Lena firmly believes in preserving her chastity before marriage, something that her fiancé, Armando, doesn't find all that enticing. For three years, he had wanted to get into her pants, only to be met with cold stares and rebukes. Tired of the whole situation, Armando starts hitting on Lena's sister (Rachel) and gets laid with her.

With the wedding day approaching, Lena looks for her engagement ring so that she can bring it to Armando, but he is "busy" getting comfy with Rachel. Lena surprises the two and angrily demands an explanation. Armando haughtily blames Lena for the situation and tells her that the wedding is still gonna happen, whether she wants it or not.

Disappointed, she wanders through the neighborhood, reflecting on what she just had to go through, when, suddenly, a man grabs her right arm and plummets to the ground unconscious, making her fall on top of him. Without knowing who he is, and thinking he's just a common beggar, she decides to help him, but, in the process, gets enthralled by his handsomeness.

While taking care of him at her home, Lena gets into a very heated convo with her father over the phone. Not knowing what transpired between Armando and her, he pressures her into marrying him, lest he disowns her for blemishing the family name. The Whites are considered among the most prestigious families in the city and, hence, rejecting them would entail getting ostracized by the people in the highest echelons of society.

Lena hangs up the phone and takes a hard look at the man lying on her couch as he wakes up. She assumes he was trying to avoid getting caught for burglary, so she swiftly asks him for a favor as payment for having helped him. To that man's surprise, that favor consists of marrying her in the hopes of eluding her now unwanted wedding with Armando, a proposal he accepts.

In the next scene, after their sudden marriage, she glances at the man's ID and notices his name: Benny Hughes! That name sounds oddly familiar to her, but she doesn't inquire much further. The reason that name rang a bell was because Benny happened to be the wealthiest man in the country, so it was a hard name to skip or forget.
