Yulia came from a very prominent family that unfortunately fell out of financial grace, forcing her to look for a lowly job as a janitor for the Flair Group, the same company where Marcus Xavier, her longtime boyfriend, worked. One fateful day, he arrived at the headquarters building with an engagement ring, which Yulia thought was for her. Alas, it was actually for his lover, Yvette, the heiress of the powerful Stewart Family.

Yulia had already heard rumors that Marcus was having an affair behind her back, but she didn't believe all the hearsay, trusting that Marcus remained loyal to his word. To her regret, those rumors turned out to be true, and she had to realize this in the most humiliating way possible.

During all the time they've been together, she has supported Marcus, both emotionally and financially, which is why Yulia, upon witnessing Marcus' treacherous deceit and treason, asked for payback. Yvette tried to embarrass her more by handing a few checks, but Yulia tore them to pieces and threw them to her face, insisting that Marcus pay.

Back home, while throwing out the garbage, she kept obsessing over the fact that Marcus would abandon her on account of her status when out of nowhere, a wounded man (who turned out to be Troy, the CEO of the company she worked for) grabbed her by the legs, begging her to help him. She looked into his eyes and immediately fell in love, but she tried to keep her cool. After hiding him from a group of thugs she thought were loan sharks, she took him home.

The next day, he thanked her for saving him and offered her money in compensation. She refused the offer vehemently, stressing that she didn't care about the money. Next thing, she got startled by a bug and involuntarily jumped on top of him, prompting an accidentally romantic scene which was shortly caught by Yulia's mother.

To save herself from admonishment, Yulia introduced Troy as her boyfriend, and he immediately followed by "disclosing" that they were getting married. Funnily enough, he was not kidding. It was, in his view, the best way to retribute her heroic act, and Yulia did not hesitate too much to play along.

In the next scene, Yulia married Troy, in part as a way to get back at Marcus, not realizing she'd be his boss's wife! Troy himself decided to conceal his identity as a safety measure, considering he just met Yulia.
