Jasmine always loved Scheirer, believing earnestly and naively that this love was reciprocated and everlasting. Her belief was not unfounded, since Scheirer strived to appear like a devoted husband for a good ten years. She obviously didn't expect to be stabbed! (and not exactly in the back). As the dagger pierced through her abdomen all the way to her stomach, she reminded Scheirer that the fruit of their "love" still resided deep inside her belly and that he should do everything in his power to save it. Alas, as expected, he bluntly declined this request. If his action gives spectators any hints, he never cared about her, much less their unborn child.

To add insult to injury, he plainly told her, as she exhaled her last breaths, that Mollie (her cousin) was more enchanting than her. Upon Jasmine's tragic and anti-climactic demise, her parents walk in, only to find her idle and bloodied body lying on the carpet. They swiftly rush towards her, while a "clock" is mildly ticking in the background, though that was no ordinary clock! Scheirer had planted a bomb, which ended up blowing up the entire place and, consequently, everyone in it. In the next shot, we see Jasmine's lifeless face as her voice, which appears to come from outside her body, swears vengeance on Scheirer for his ultimate act of treason!

Within just a few seconds, her soul travels back in time, landing her squarely in her driver's seat just moments before colliding with Roland Mellon's vehicle. In her past life, Roland became her confidant and ally and had long sensed Scheirer's deception, warning Jasmine from the very beginning that he was up to no good. Initially brushing off his warnings as mere jealousy due to his unwavering affection for her, she never imagined that time would prove him right!

Naturally, given how she already knew how her whole life would unfold after that point in time, she played ahead of fate and immediately, without mincing words, kissed Roland right in the mouth, leaving him extremely confounded (because, for all intents and purposes, he had never personally known Jasmine at that juncture, though he certainly did admire her from afar). She then disclosed to him that her wedding was due in two weeks and invited him to "steal her away," an invitation he would not refuse.

What Jasmine actually had in store for Roland was a little more than just a wedding arrangement, though. To wit, she proposed an alliance with the Mellons to swipe the Carter family out of the way. Notwithstanding this juicy deal, Roland still had doubts as to whether he should trust a girl he just met, even if from a powerful and well-known family in the U.S. Regardless, he ultimately agrees to the proposal as that would mean becoming the flamant husband of the beautiful and coveted bachelorette Jasmine Laurent.

In the meantime, she tried to play along and pretend to be Scheirer's fiancée, albeit also sharing her doubts about his integrity and intentions with her parents and close relatives.

Physically, she's a breathtakingly gorgeous woman with a charming demeanor who could theoretically get any man he wants. Unfortunately, her choice couldn't have been any worse.

Scheirer Carter

Scheirer comes from a relatively rich family, though their fortune is severely dwarfed by that of the Laurents. His thirst for more wealth pushes him to conquer Jasmine's heart, leveraging their longstanding acquaintance to win her affection. To this effect, he paints himself as meek and humble, all the while allowing his good looks to do the heavy lifting. His natural charms have turned him into quite the lover boy, though, for some reason, his lavish and lustful lifestyle flew over Jasmine's head, for she never found out about his many affairs (including the one with her cousin, Mollie) until before her death.

Roland Mellon

Roland is a moderately good-looking tycoon from yet another prominent family in the Oakland area. He has always appreciated Jasmine, even before he finally met her during that little car accident. Notwithstanding his tendency to boast, deep down, he's an innocent young man who harbors noble feelings, even if mixed with some brushes of self-centeredness.
